On January 12th, Mary Kay hosted book club at her house where 6 of us discussed The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo. The author was generally thought of as obsessive and quirky and many of the tips did not seem to translate from a Japanese lifestyle to an American one. However, the 4 members who had read the book (or some of the book!) explained the basic premise to the 2 members that did not read it (but still attended.) Many found the tips to be really helpful, which lead to a good discussion of the clutter we keep in our lives and helpful ways to rid it. As usual, we strayed into non-book related topics and had a nice time staying warm on a cold winter night!
